Posted about 1 year ago

According to Raphael Saadiq's myspace page, if you are FEMALE and you are in New Orleans on July 6 please sign up to his myspace page for more information. This is directly from his blog that there is a "For Ladies Only Listening Event."

Hmm..

Raphael - if I had a FREE ticket to come down to New Orleans? I would come and I would use that time also to help in aiding the residents who are still trying to survive and displaced from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

Raphael Saadiq was part of the famous 1990s singing group, "Tony! Toni! Tone!" which had such hits as Anniversary, It Never Rains in Southern California, Whatever You Want, and he also was in the group, Lucy Pearl, which had an album entitled, "Lucy Pearl", which I feel is ESSENTIAL if you enjoy alternative hip hop, soul, funk, rock. Lucy Pearl consisted of former En Vogue singer, Dawn Robinson, A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Raphel Saadiq.

Here are some tunes to remember:

It Never Rains in Southern California - Tony! Toni! Tone!

Dance Tonight - Lucy Pearl

[featured on the Love & Basketball Soundtrack. You BETTER GET IT!!]

The group had its differences and broke up but each member has gone off to do their own music albums. Raphael Saadiq's albums again are essential if you do not have them, GET THEM! Instant Vintage is my ultimate favorite and I should be shot for not having his other two albums which are Ray Ray and All Hits at the House of Blues. He is a consistent hit maker.

So this is why I am so curious to this special, "Listening Event" in New Orleans!

AHHH I so WANT to be there! Someone PLEASE go and report to MOG!

Thank you!

Tony Toni Tone was one of the first tapes I owned, what a throwback! I forgot about Lucy Pearl but they got a little hot for a minute. too bad they broke up, it's a good mix of talent. Hmm...now who can we send to the Raphael Saadiq ladies' listening party? I want the dirt :)

Ahh...this is my boye! I have been loving him since the beginning of his career. Loving all of him. He is so talented it is sick. I honestly did not realize his talent until I started listening to him in high school 1988 - 1992. All of us females were in LOVE with his voice. Though people had jokes on how skinny he was it was his lyrics and flow that drove us insane (still does). I am so excited! YEAH YEAH!!! I am so having flashbacks to my high school years! AHHHHHHHHH

Thank you MOG for making this a daily pick. I was surprised to see this today. Further, I do not understand why my entire post did not come out. I repost the entire thing on my last.fm account:
