WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My people my people my people (we need intervention quick)

This is not a post about music but something that concerned me tremendously for my friend in Germany brought my attention to a situation of how a young black lady was portraying herself on a music website.I did everything in my power to get through to her but I am not too sure if she realizes the harm she is causing to herself. Here is a link to my blog post of everything that went down. My head is still spinning from it.Further, I could not get any of the black female bloggers I know to even try to get through to the child. So, that is another problem. If as a community we keep on complaining and we do not take action or try to help, we are going to continue to self destruct as a community. It hurts more than you could ever understand to see this continue all the time. Many are ignoring these kids but when something like this is brought to my attention I do reach out.I am praying!Situation that occurredhttp://peaurl.com/WzN9Direct Link:http://serenitylife.vox.com/library/post/asking-for-the-universe-to-pray-for-some-people.htmlSong I included is by a musician I heard over on fuzz.com named Jerome Lee. I adore this song and I am using his song to mediate and pray for this child. To learn more about Jerome please go here:http://www.jeromelee.net

  3. Wahiawa786 says The link to Vox worked for me. When I saw the phrase, I thought, "This is a young black woman saying something I've only heard on misogynist Gangsta Rap! She's trying to draw attention to herself, but this is an awful way to do it." As with "Betty La Fea/Ugly Betty," you don't have to be judged/defined by external appearances. I've been disturbed but silent when men speak ill of women when only the boys are around. All young women suffer from the casual indifference to the weight of such verbal trash talk.

  4. SerenityLife says Oh no. I am so sorry that link did not work!! Here is a direct link: http://serenitylife.vox.com/library/post/asking-for-the-universe-to-pray-for-some-people.html @Universalis - I am so sorry. Thank you for even looking and caring to see! I reposted in my blog and in this comment here. Here is a link here too: http://serenitylife.vox.com/library/post/asking-for-the-universe-to-pray-for-some-people.html @ivylander - ooh no! Here you go. Thank you for even considering the situation! Much appreciated: http://serenitylife.vox.com/library/post/asking-for-the-universe-to-pray-for-some-people.html @Wahiawa786 - I agree with you. Sad thing the woman does not realize inter-nationally she does not realize what she is doing to her credibility although she is aware of how we are looking at her. I think? I mean I tried to break it down to her but I am no to sure how to get through to these kids. I wonder if Jay Z or Little Wayne told them to stop acting stupid maybe they would listen but then I am not such a big fan of either Jay Z or Little Wayne but I know they are popular. But then I cannot really talk because I do not know all of their music. This is definitely a generational divide here for me. Sometimes I just wonder and I am not silent on these issues but then I get attacked that the black community is being silent. People are talking but some people just ignore what some other brown people have to say, do not care or just laugh at us. At this point in time, I have to live with myself and my actions and that is why I try to voice my opinion when I can on some things but I do not claim to know everything and further, I am now getting mentally exhausted by all the destruction with this younger generation. Mainstream media is not making it easier and this election also has made me so upset that sometimes I wish I could crawl under a rock.

  5. Universalis says ° ° ° Terrible start, but finally you managed to get a very interesting conversation with her. Now i believe she fully knows what she's doing and don't feel there is that much "danger" (but i'm a white guy from Europe, and quite a bit older too...). About the racism, racist words, and others from the same kind, it is awful to see that, just like if all US citizens would call themselves "yanks" or something like this, to me it denotes a lack of self-esteem, this is not good for the young lady... Just wishing peace and (self) love (didn't say selfish huh...), i have no other mean of direct action, hoping and thinking of Bob Marley's song, "Time will tell". U.

  6. SerenityLife says @universalis - I appreciate your words! It is sad that she has lack of self-esteem. [thank you for your concern and even reading] Since I cannot physically reach out to her it seems as though she will have to deal with these self-esteem issues on her own. But, that is why I pray someone in her community reaches out to her and will try to talk some sense with her. Looking through my Bob Marley music I realize I do not have the song which I will get. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me! This is when I love youtube!! [[hugz]]

  7. Universalis says ° ° ° I can't help it but repeat, Time Will Tell. When i saw your call at first, i was just curious to see what that was all about. When i knew more about it, i then wondered "what can i do?", found almost nothing to help but (maybe) a few of my words. I might sound stoopid, but if any of my words could help only one person, only once and only for a second, then my life wouldn't be spent in vain. And any more time that would happen the more would be added to my own karma (i'm that selfish sometimes :))))) Yep, after all Utube has some useful sides, one has to deploy more and more efforts to slash thru and sort off the rubbish there, but there are gems for anyone as well !! Peace, U.
