Nothing surprises me about the Montreux Jazz Festival in pushing the boundaries of music! The grouchy old man in me says,"That isn't jazz!" The progressive in me says that this mighty fine music indeed. Considering the usual dreck that shows up at Montreux (some of it is too hideous for me to even mention), this is really outstanding. At the very least, it is exposing a new audience to new trends. Much success to Prince and his future adventures in music!
@musikfriend - Prince has done some wonderful ALL jazz albums without vocals. Check out N.E.W.S (all instrumental) and The Rainbow Children (vocals on here)
