from CNN - US Senate Approves Resolution Apologizing for US Slavery
Though this isn't music news, this is major news in my eyes.
Last year, Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa introduced this bill to the US Senate and now an apology will be made.

Dear SerenityLife,
Although this isn't a music topic, I believe it is one of major consequence for the United States and how we are seen overseas. This has always been a troubling situation for me as a human being, for I see goodness in everyone. I try to see the faces of people who were hurt far more deeply than what any of us will ever know and see people. It pains me beyond belief to know that someone I know and value as a human being would ever be hurt by any action unthinking individuals would do to one person. If you put the face of someone you know on racism, you then can have an empathy that goes far beyond what words can ever possible communicate. To see people hurting makes me, as a human being, want to comfort them in any way possible.
This many more words than I have ever wrote - well, not always. But I want to thank you, SerenityLife for bringing this up and giving me the opportunity to put my soul out there for all to read. There is not much more to add. But thanks again for bringing this topic up!
Yours very truly and sincerely,
musikfriend
I feel the same especially with my ancestors who came to America by way of the middle passage. I don't know ANYTHING of my ancestry from Africa. I've always wondered WHERE are my people from but I don't know? DNA tests don't work. I've done those tests and they came back with no answers. It's *some part of West Africa* as I have been told.
Thank you for sharing your kind words, musikfriend. xoox
