I thought I'd ask how people are doing to see if I'd get some sort of response. Most of you probably dropped out or something. So, how are you?Now that we're talking, or at least I am, let's talk about some "things."First, I was in a car accident. Not too bad really. An old lady in a rental car ran a stop sign and hit my rear passenger wheel. Then, after an officer says to me "We're not going to c
For my drawing class, we are doing a project on collections. My most blatant collection is CDs. I branched off of that and came up with a couple of ideas that my professor said would work. Now, they're very raw, so I was kind of hoping for your help, for a new eye, and what you think about it and how I might twist it up. There are two pieces to the project:1. I burn a copy of all or nearly all of
Wow, it's been a month since I wrote a post on here, but I am still alive. My most recent foray into the music world was last Friday when the girlfriend and I went down to Bogart's in Cincinnati to see Against All Authority, Streetlight Manifesto, Less Than Jake, and the always loveable Reel Big Fish. We met a high school friend of mine down there and we hung out in the balcony during the show. Yo
Earlier today I watched Harold and Maude. It is definitely more interesting than it's title leads on. A kid who fakes suicides to get his mother's attention and then solves the problem by falling in love with a 79 year old woman who wants to commit suicide on her 80th birthday in a couple weeks - absolutely brilliant, and also, quite hilarious.I didn't know it when I decided to rent this movie, bu
...nobody ever turned me completely on to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I took a long walk to the library today and checked out a few CDs I found. I got Please Describe Yourself by Dogs Die in Hot Cars, At War With the Mystics by The Flaming Lips, Surfer Rosa by the Pixies (it's a shame I didn't have this because my favorite Pixies songs are on this album), Tanglewood Numbers by The Silver Jews, A
So, while I was talking to Kit Higgs who manages (or at least does something...persuades?) The National on tour, he told me that he was trying to get the guys to come back to Cincinnati in the fall. Sure enough, here they come. September 23rd, the last date before they "rock the casbah" so to speak. I honestly would quit my job and take photos of them on tour for the rest of my life, if I were a g
So I was reading about Lyla's obsession for Jeff Mangum and Neutral Milk Hotel and noticed the treasure chest of mp3s she had on Multiply. I've been picking up and nearly buying In The Aeroplane Over the Sea for quite some time now. I thought I would download some of the other things she had on there too. Apparently you have to be a member and it's free so I joined. It asks me to add other contact
I went to see Transformers tonight. It actually bored me. I mean, I was kind of looking forward to it, but it let me down. What with its massively noticeable product placement for every product and service under the sun (Apple, Ebay, Chevy, Porsche, GMC to name a few) and its use of orchestral music even though it wasn't that serious at all, and then on top of that using the music of Linkin Park.
Despite my ambivalence to this holiday, I did partake in some of the festivities. Festivities such as finding a detour through my town because the main bridge was shut down for a parade that didn't go over the bridge but turned right in front of it. Such as eating festival food that gave my stomach a run for its money, all $10 I spent on two bratwursts and a large "hand-shaken" lemonade. Such ...
I know I wrote about these guys on here, and I actually got them to join MOG as well (not bragging, but I did...click here for their mog...)I just noticed that I did not post any of their greatness in music form and they unfortunately haven't had many people add them as trusted mogs. So I feel a deep obligation to expand the number of Americans and people all over the world who I know will find th
