Joni Mitchell's 'Blue' album of 1972 is one of the best examples of the emerging singer/songwriter genre of the time. Joni's vocals are strong, yet effortless. The musicianship is faultless and the songwriting is unsurpassed. Every song contains a gem within it, a reflection of something personal that most of us could never put into words, Joni Mitchell is blessed with not only the ability to construct and produce incredible music, but also to bring a new meaning to the role of a musicain as a storyteller. This album is full of stories, touching stories, that once you have an idea of what the songs are about, you will be changed forever upon listening. The most moving song would for me is "Little Green" , the song Joni wrote about giving up her daughter for adoption as a young woman. This song has made me cry a dozen times over, and I am not one who cries very often. Also, there is great humour, and joy and she remembers to have fun. Her songs are hers and hers alone, they speak volumes, this album is timeless, it will stand forever as an inspiration for generations to come.
