WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Oh, to love and hate a band at the same time...

Posted over 2 years ago
So... I've been listening to Blue October's 'Foiled' album a lot the last couple of days. The singer has a voice that works for me and the over-all feel of the album is fine for this craptastic winter weather. But I've been listening to selected tracks and literally had no flippin' idea that this band I'm enjoying sings a song that I've mocked for months now.Every time our local emo-heavy radio station has played the track "Hate Me" I have launched into a tirade against all those emo-wuss-ass-wankers that drive me up the wall. And gee, little did I know that this annoying song belonged to the same band on the same album that included the catchy gem "Into the Ocean".So here I sit this morning, laughing my ass off @ myself and shaking my head in bewilderment at how that nails-on-a-chalkboard song, "Hate Me" got so much airplay when there were much better songs on an otherwise enjoyable album.Hmm... P.S. And kiss it, Mog-o-matic. I'm trying to SKIP that track...Not play it. Sue me for going to get another coffee. *growl* ;)

  1. Blue Meenie says I'm glad to hear you enjoy most of it so much. It's my artist to play next week. I'm following fellow Mogger Matt Cleveland's lead and listening to one newer disc repeatedly, but older familiar material is mixed in. Still listening to The Weakerthans - Left and Leaning, and damm glad....great disc.

  2. Scarlett Echo says I've been listening to The Weakerthans myself lately. And yeah, damn good. I'm just glad my brain made no connection between "Hate Me" and Blue October in general or else I'd have missed out on the album altogether because I can write bands off completely if something rubs me the wrong way.

  3. mutterimieli says I bought this CD for one of my best friends because Hate Me was one of the only songs that we actually both agreed that we liked but the whole CD is awesome I was so happy when I found it at Target for $5.98, it was such a frickin' steal.

  4. Lyla says ha, at first i thought you were talking about that puddle of mudd song. wow, i hate that song. and that band. if i hear one more reference to how they're like nirvana, i'm going to steal the nuclear launch codes and just kill the world. but since you weren't talking about that song, now i have to download the other because i haven't actually...um...heard of it. or the band. gah.
