I love this new Joseph Arthur record. Anyone else hear a major Rolling Stones influence here? Especially on the more upbeat tracks of this album...Joe is also giving Ryan Adams a run for his money in the category of sheer volume of material. Didn't 'Nuclear Daydream' just come out last year, and here is yet another full length album.
I am not complaining though...seriously, I mean what if someone like Fergie was this prolific...we would all be hurting.

*lol
Funny statement.
It's great that artists are attempting to crank out albums the way that they used to thirty to forty years ago! More power to them. All of those classic albums from the Beatles came out in a six year period. In the early seventies, there must have been like six albums from Elton John released in two or three years. Wow!
Joseph does have that Stones thing going on with "Diamond Ring". Cool track!

Definite Stones influence. They played "Miss You" by The Stones at their last show, check out my last blog for more. Yep, 2 albums within about 6 months of one another. Pretty damn impressive. Joseph has always been prolific but having a band to lay tracks with has been really inspirational for him. Seeing them again on Wednesday... I'm excited.

You know the backing band is another parallel between he and Ryan Adams...seems like once Ryan formed the Cardinals his music took an interesting, jammy detour....did you listen to the middle track of this lastest album? I think its like 20 minutes long...WAY jammy! Cool, I will look forward to your review...been a long time fan of his, but never been able to catch him live

when i think of greatest stones influenced tracks, i think of two tracks that keith might have heard and sat about ripped thinking, "i wished i'd written that"
"shuffle it all" by izzy stradlin (the late, great rhythm guitarist for gnr)
sometimes referential, vintage tunes just work
i freakin' love this song, and fear no one will ever hear it, cuz this band is bound to be local forever, think of how many great tunes by local acts that never break through for one reason or another will never be heard by the masses
the horror!

X-cellent, Blair. I was totally into the previous release. Hard to believe he's putting out so much first-rate stuff in such a short time - and I'm crazy about his band.
