WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Hold Steady ARE 'American Music'

Posted over 2 years ago
To me...this is the perfect cover.Because to me, the Hold Steady write better songs about the American experience than any artist I can think of since vintage Bruce Springsteen.I have written what feels like VOLUMES about how much I love this band...so I will spare you the wordage and get right to the songThe Hold Steady covering the Violent Femmes

  3. amber says I too adore The Hold Steady and have a date with them in about a week =O) However, I think they are one of those bands that your enjoyment increases by mulitples of large numbers if you see them live, don't you think? Don't get me wrong...I'm not discouraging anyone for checking out thier CDs because they are _fabulous_, but see them live and you're hooked forever. Very fun band, very easy to identify with and love. These are guys you'd want to bump into at a dive bar and share a table with. Americana walking, talking, singing...

  5. gympumpkin says I really think one needs to see them live to really get them. Both myself and a guy I work with thought they were only okay before seeing them live, and then we were blown away and now those same songs that were just sort of okay before are awesome now. I keep playing their stuff for Tim and telling him that is one of the must-sees for Lollapalooza. He doesn't seem convinced, but I promised him he would love them. My fear is that seeing them at a festival will be a much different experience than seeing them in a small venue, and maybe he won't like it? I don't know. I told him he has no choice but to come and be indoctrinated :)
