Technology has ruined my life

Posted over 2 years ago
NO...not really. I just love that line from the song at the bottom of this post. But it does scare me to death when I think about how dependent upon technology I am. I don't know any one's phone number...scroll to their name, press talk. I haven't used a phone book in years...google it. This on demand world of ours is crazy if you stop and think about it...50yrs ago the wold was SO much bigger.I in NO way condone his actions, but the Unabomber might have been on to something with that manifesto of his...technology is truly starting to rule our lives...now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and watch a movie i downloaded on my xbox...hey, i never said I was above it all...just making an observation.Have a great Sunday moggers

  2. lucyintheskies says sometimes i miss when i did not have a cell phone and when a day off was truly a day away from everything, if i wanted it that way. but, at the same time, i would miss the people i have in my life and know that i would have never met if technology wasn't a big part of my life. lucy.

  3. White and Nerdy says Right on man! I love using technology, mostly to keep in touch with distant friends, but the whole dependency thing really scares me. It's like being dependent on the government or drug dependent. Not good. The balance of technology and humanity seems to be a little harder to find sometimes. I'm going outside...

  5. chucky says Bah. I am not going to be happy until my phone and ipod are implanted in my body. I think the world was much smaller 50 years ago. None of us would know each other 50 years ago without this technology. I want more! Haha.

  7. Wahiawa786 says I'm using a Y2K-vintage Mac PowerBook G3 that "can't do streaming video" or burn DVDs. Does that bother me? Ye Olde Pismo gets me to the Internet and I'm still a fan of the written word. Cell phone? MSO got me one for emergencies on the road for Christmas and so far I use it once a month...maybe. I just replaced some moribund VHS VCRs with a DVD+VCR unit, and find that I like "TV on DVD" better. Whether technology controls you or vice versa is a matter of perspective. Or just not having to use technology more than one needs to. As far as I know, people are still in control of the machines; have you gotten a SPAM email lately? Time to see if the world is still there and watch the late TV news.
