TAKE OFF YOUR SOCKS LEST THEY BE KNOCKED

Less can be SO much more

This post is brought to you buy the horrid movie experience I had last night. I am not trying to offend anyone, or start any heated e-arguments over movies. Movies are much like music, their beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But what I beheld last night, was not so pleasing to me.I rented 'The Fountain' and HATED it. I thought it was all style, very little substance. It made me think of one of my favorite movies, You Can Count On Me with Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo. That film is so simple, yet so well done...so much heart.I think a lot of music is like that...I hear so much slick, overproduced noise that it all bleeds together a lot of the time for me. Sometimes a voice and a guitar can speak to you louder than anything. So here is the song that plays as the credits roll on 'You Can Count On Me'....simple and beautiful

  3. Viva La Britt says "_I love seeing flawed characters portrayed so well…i can relate!_" No s. It's very hard for me to hear bad things about Aronofsky. I haven't seen _The Fountain_ yet, and now I'm in no rush- you're freaking me out, man.

  5. amber says I pay-per-viewed The Fountain Sundady because, Hugh Jackman...how can it be bad, right? Wrong...bad bad bad bad movie. I changed the channel after maybe 10 minutes. I can only take so much of a bald, hallucinating Hugh. Ugggg...I'm with you on this movie.

  6. SatisfiedMind614 says I think I lasted about 45 minutes...at that point I was still lost and could care less about the characters...a recipe for flipping aimlessly through basic cable

  7. Viva La Britt says "_I think it was just too smart for me…it happens…a lot_" I was nice enough to ignore that similar statement on the other M- why are you baiting me, Hook?

  13. SatisfiedMind614 says I think MOGgers should run the world...we should scrap the United Nations and we should just take over...we would have all of the world's problems solved in half a year....ever notice how well music lovers get along?

  14. lucyintheskies says seriously, blair. we would just need to pipe in music all over the world, each taking a turn at dj'ing the universal soundtrack, and all would be right and peaceful. i was just reminiscing about how i missed my record store days...working among the music and other music obsessives. there is a different quality to music lovers, and yeah, they (we all) tend to get along so easily. lucy.

  15. SatisfiedMind614 says I think about this everytime I go to Coachella or another large music festival. When people are surrounded by amazing music, they are innately happy. If i bump into someone and spill beer on them, they apologize to me! When I become King of the Universe I will have music piped into the atmosphere every second of every day...then I would ban organized religion...but that is another post for another day!

  17. that1guy says I heard The Fountain sucked. I felt the same way about 300, it was all style with no content. I didn't understand the hype. My philosophy is 'less is more'. The most brilliant music out there is a single person and their guitar.

  18. ZZTodd says wow lots of hating on The Fountain here. i actually liked that movie a bit

  19. mktackabery says So true about The Fountain!!! We rented it last weekend and watched the whole thing, and I could NOT BELIEVE how bad it was . . . I expected so much more from Aronofsky, but that movie made no sense at all. There was no friggin' resolution, and it was so cold . . . There was almost zero chemistry between the two characters. The only good scenes were between Jackman and Ellen Burstyn.

(;TOTALLY AGREE;) Give me a simple song anyday than some old suped up Studio version any day.I agree with what Emmy Lou Harris had to say with whats missing in todays music is the living room feeling. We need more of this type of songs today.I'm a sucker for anything with a Mandolin in a song.Beautiful song.Your Mog Bro.~ (;Yrral Mallik;)

  21. NeilNathan says very much with you about simple music and simple films and simple, yet powerful emotional truths but, i dug the fountain, it's trippy and poetic and quite emotional it's kind of like a high end art film or something, without an obvious plot, very theme oriented, reminded me of kubrick in 2001 i thought hugh ruled as well and ellen burstyn is always wonderful i like that movies like that can even be made in hollywood, aronofsky is a groundbreaker in my illustrious opinion

  22. moovyphreak says The Fountain was a complete bust for me too. I cannot imagine it would've been much better had it come out when it was originally supposed to about 3-4 years ago with Brad Pitt & Cate Blanchett in the lead roles.
