WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Never, EVER, underestimate the power of song

Posted over 2 years ago
I am sure most of you are familiar with the story of Ray Lamontagne. He is definitely on my own personal Mt Rushmore of people who have inspired me.He was working in Maine at a shoe factory(no joke), and during one of his shifts the Stephen Stills song 'Tree Top Flyer' came on the radio, and Ray's life was changed forever. It was the epiphany of all epiphanies...he decided on the spot to become a singer/songwriter.I'd say it worked out pretty well for him...he has sold hundreds of thousans of records and played to sold out houses all over the globe....but the best thing about stories like this, is the stuff that never happened. I have no doubt that even if he hadn't made it, he would have been SO much happier singing on a street corner at some busy intersection....nobody like us, and by us I mean moggers, should ever work in a shoe factory. So keep your ears open and when you hear your own personal 'Tree Top Flyer' play it to 11...and don't look back.

  1. chucky says Gotta love stories like that. The most I'll ever be is a fan, but I'm good with that.

  2. SatisfiedMind614 says Being a fan is perfect! I just don't want any of us to work in a job that they HATE....because I did that for FAR too many years!!

  3. chucky says Oh - see, I completely hate my job. But, I like the freedom, the money, the ability to harass and abuse my boss in a way that would get me fired elsewhere. I read a short story the other day that summed it up: It's all about the fringe benefits...haha.

  5. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says I love all the great pep-talks coming from you. I think all moggers should transfer a few $$$ to Blair's PAYPAL so he does not have to worry about gas-money on his way to LA.

  11. Lindsaybuggahs says I saw Ray at the Beacon Theater last year with Tristan Prettyman, and he played on the spot this amazing song that i havent heard released yet but hoping it will be on his next album. It was so romantic till some friggin girl in the middle of the song yells drunkely "Yyyyyeahhhhhh" you'll hear her! haha otherwise it was the one of the best shows i've ever been to, he's absolutely amazing and its remarkable that he doesnt speak during the show, the lights are dimmed every so lightly so you can see him and when he sings..its the most beautiful voice you've ever heard. ugh..love him :)
