WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Influences

I have been loving all of the blues and OLD TIME jazz stuff that has been popping up on MOG for the last week or so. I have been checking out a lot of blues myself lately, and the more you listen to the greats...the more you realize that that stuff set the table for most of what we listen to today. 1. gympumpkin says Thanks for posting the Leadbelly version. I have never heard it before, and I always wanted to. It's weird, I've been listening to Nirvana a lot for the first time in a lot of years. It's not that I haven't heard any Nirvana songs during that time, but it's the first time in a long time that I'm making a conscious effort to listen to them. And it's as if Kurt Cobain's death hit me all over again during the past few weeks. Very sad :(

  4. gympumpkin says They do get better! With a big chunk (though not all, because I"ve always had good taste :)) of music from my high school years, I hear the songs now and I still love them because of what they meant to me then, but really if those songs were released now I wouldn't like them. At the time Nevermind came out, I was one of those kids who thought Kurt Cobain spoke for me. Now that some time has passed, I realize how good the music actually was, it didn't just fit how I felt then, but it was really good.
