MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

Once again, David Vandervelde

Posted over 2 years ago
I am thinking this is my third post on the topic of David V. I love his stuff. And he finally has a video out for the first single 'Jacket'Musically, I hear a cross between T Rex and Ween, with much more straight forward lyrics...He is criss crossing the country this summer supporting the album, including a spot on this year's Lollapalooza lineup.

  1. shayna says that's a cool video. I'm not convinced of his songs yet, tho. he's opening for Richard Swift on their current tour, but I missed seeing Vandervelde last night. I think they're heading to your part of the country soon...

  4. NeilNathan says saw him in l.a. the other night love this record and been having some fun playing along with murder in michigan which gives me such a great moody blues meets george harrison vibe the record is well produced with lots of strings and vintage sounds, a very mature sound, was interested to see how that would come across live maybe that vibe is all jay bennett in the studio, as on stage, it was all out power trio rock, a kind of hendrix meets neil young raunch rock vibe on guitar that pretty much stayed the same from song to song that is of course, a great sound, but i was still a little disappointed i missed richard swift, as i ran out of the club to see if i could go catch the thermals, who were playing nearby, and complete the blair inspired saturday night l.a. fantasy rock fest, but it was not to be, as their show ended early so close to perfection!
