WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

...better to burn out than to fade away

Posted over 2 years ago
April 5th will be the 13th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's suicide. He was 27. Only 27.I graduated high school in 1993, and more than any band that I have ever seen during my lifetime, Nirvana actually changed the landscape of popular music. I mean when Nevermind was released, it debuted at number one...knocking Michael Jackson out of the top spot, it that doesn't signify a sea change in American youth culture, I don't know what does. His music really did change the culture of America.I was going to write more, but 13yrs later it still makes me sad to think about it. He was an amazing songwriter who never wanted to be a rock star, and never really figured out how to do it. But anyone who has ever listened to a Nirvana record is better off for having done so...thanks Kurt, I still love you.

  1. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says You are so right. When I look at all the albums I bought before Smells Like Teen Spirit and all the albums I've bought after................my live and taste seems to have taken a major step forward.
