Only the great Greg Gillis aka Girl Talk would even think to mash up James Taylor, the Pixies, Weezer and about 15 other samples into one track...and it works swimmingly!I was just on his website, and this guy gets cooler every day in my book. He only plays weekend gigs because he has a day job as some sort of engineer. And he is playing a high school prom next month in San Fransisco...like the week before Coachella!! I love this man...Continued in comments

  2. gollygee says I bought one of his CDs today. I walked into the record store, grabbed all of his CDs, and walked to the cash register. Holding up these three CDs, I asked the angst-ridden teenager behind the counter, "Which one is the best?" WIHOUT EVEN THE SLIGHTEST MOMENT'S HESITATION, he pointed at one. I then purchased it. Later I wondered if he does that to every person who asks such a question. But it really doesn't matter, because it had me smiling for the whole drive home. And I never would've found out about him if it weren't for you, so muchos gracias! :)

  3. SatisfiedMind614 says I have done my good musical deed for the year! Isn't it the funnest cd ever? And a great album to drive to!! I read somewhere that there over 200 or so samples on this album...man, the attention to detail it would take to put this together!!

  4. gollygee says It rules. I can't get enough. I'm going to have to buy the other two very soon, if not tomorrow. And I was totally dancing in the car on the way home, and smiling like a maniac while sitting at the stoplight. Not surprised at all about over 200 samples, it seems like he has that many in just one song alone! The man has an INSANE amount of talent! :)

  6. gollygee says I hear you. You can hear it so much better in the car than on the speakers of the computer. I read your post where you asked everyone to name the songs he sampled, and that song was on the CD, and I picked out at least three more that I didn't pick up on when I listened to it on the computer... It's awesome! :)
