WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

'Every night's the same sad old procedure...'

Posted over 2 years ago
I think I will just title my posts after long lyrics from this day forward. I do it a lot anyway, and I may as well do it all the time since I am constantly thinking in song lyrics anyway. Oh, and tonight's title is courtesy of Gram Parsons and really doesn't have anything to do with anything other than it just popped up on the shuffle. Its an odd thing to see your musical taste graying year by year...or maybe maturing is a nicer way of putting it. I don't feel the need to rock out nearly as often as I used to...and I am ok with it. Because when I do need to rock out...i pick a song that REALLY rocks and it totally works. Here is one of the more mellow cd's I have been loving this week...her name is Elina Mandell and I think I love her :-)

  5. chucky says I came to say that I am not maturing at all, but then I realized that my first musical stop tonight was The Bird and the Bee. Le sigh. I'm not ready to mellow...bah.

  6. SatisfiedMind614 says Oh Ash....just two months ago you were rocking out every night to Juliette and the Licks!! You are fighting it much better than I am

  7. chucky says You're right I was! In fact, I was listening to Miss Juliette on the way home. I *do* rock...haha.

  8. SatisfiedMind614 says Yes...you are still in the very VERY early stages or rock aging...although we are the same age, this proves that people age at different rates...uh oh, i may be listening to John Tesh in like a year and a hafl!!

  9. chucky says Heh....you know I've noticed everyone around me moving slowly towards sleepier music. I so don't want to be the wrinkled old hag with the plastic hip trying to rock out but I think that may be the direction I'm headed in. John Tesh though? Shut your mouth...haha. Now if you'd said Enya, I would have totally bought it. :P

  10. SatisfiedMind614 says Yeah...its so funny...i remember being sixteen and not liking anything that didin't involve angry screaming! The transition is so gradual and seamless, you almost don't notice....until it hits you like a ton of bricks on a monday night...then you mog about it and move on!

  11. chucky says Well then, I need more TBATB type stuff so I can age gracefully. With that, I'm off to get beauty sleep.

  12. jimmybearpearson says Interesting... I don't think of it as my musical tastes graying... more like a forward evolution. When I was 13 I needed nothing but Led Zeppelin, Ronny Montrose, Mountain, Black Sabbath, and Alice Cooper. If the music wasn't hard and energetic - I didn't have the time. Now that I'm a year or two older, I do like those things I did before, but sometimes I'm content to listen to things that don't thrash. I don't think I am aging gracefully... I am just a little bit ditsy about it: what day is it?
