YOU CAN'T NOT GET NO SATISFACTION

So says James Dean, and I think he is right. I hate hate hate working in this cubicle so much...it is stifling and suffocating. I have especially big dreams of running away to join the circus...only my circus is the the music business. I can honestly say that I would be more happy sweeping the floors at a record label or even a record store for that matter, than pushing all of this paper which only seems to make rich people richer. I am an idealist to a fault...but i do have especially big dreams....

  5. Rawkkiddoh says A kid that I went to college with quit school and joined the circus. It was crazy, at the U of M behind the dorms lie a bunch of train tracks. We used to go and hang out at night down there, and one night we went down to see that the circus was in town. Crazy bunch of people, and this kid started hanging out with them. One thing lead to another, and the night before they were going to leave he went to his dorm room and sold all of his stuff. The next day he left with the circus and we never heard from him again.

  8. Dale says Hey, if we're looking for bands, how about some of the better MOG bands? I, for one, would like to see "Foxtail Somersault":http://mog.com/snakama get noticed.

  14. Hmmm says Even though my occupation is High school, I know exactly how you feel. I've promised myself that I will live in a gutter before I get sttuck doing something I'm not content with. My Plan: Escape to Seattle or Portland and start my own chain of music venues. Set to work in conjunction with MOG records : )

  18. Lord Helmet says This is really not a bad idea SM614. Especially since most (non-major) labels seem to do most of their distribution on-line anyways. I made a post a few months ago about doing a MOG battle of the bands. In truth, my overall vision of it's outcome was that the winner of the contest would be the first released artist on the official MOG record label... but i didn't want to get ahead of myself. Anyways, I'd be willing to bet that David and company are already looking into this and/or have a label in mind.

  19. lucyintheskies says i ran away & joined the student circus. i spent the last 9 years in a veal-fattening pen (a.k.a. cubicle lifestyle) working in the media side of advertising. i felt like my brain was dying right alongside of my soul. so, i took the leap & quit the biz, as they (who are they anyway?) say & enrolled in school. i even applied for a record store job to do part-time. honestly my best jobs of my life were the years i spent working at tower records & to a lesser degree sam goody music & video. so i say quit & join the circus. i promise to cheer you on. l *

  20. lucyintheskies says oooh mog records. can i join? i can offer my advertising skills & make everyone in our chosen "age demographic" feel that they cannot live without each & every little thing that mog records distributes. *evil ad exec laugh* ;) l *

  23. chucky says At first I thought you were posting about Authority Zero when I saw the title and thought I had another EMCD moment under my belt...le sigh. Anyway...so y'all have come up with a brilliant plan to free us all from the drudgery of our current jobs and I *still* have to be the f'ing accountant????? What kind of crap is that? Heh. Hey DH, are you out there? If I have to still be an accountant no matter what - don't you need those already? Death and taxes right? I'm not too fond of CA but I'd happily telecommute. We could work out a deal - I bet I'm cheaper than your current accountant. ;)

  24. alucinante says I agree with the general notion of eschewing the 9 to 5 office crap. Doesn't every music lover wish for their life to be set on fire? It would be wonderful. If you figure out how, let me know. I also agree with your choice of Beatles song. In My Life is absolutely amaaaazing. :) auds
