WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My weekly Girl Talk post

How could you not love the Notorious BIG rhyming over Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer? Greg Gillis is my hero...I love the guy so much because he is first and foremost a music freak...as you can tell by listening.

  3. elketerbentzadik says I actually look at him more as a musical trash compactor. The vast majority of the songs he chops up are absolutely horrible. I actually have problems listening to his mixes sometimes because so many of the songs he uses are tracks I would probably turn off if they came on the radio. Then he does something transcendent involving putting Smashing Pumpkins beats or Pixies riffs under some random Rap record and it makes it worth it. But for the most part it seems like he went through the Rap/R&B 12'' cutout bin and just grabbed a bunch of crap records that happened to have acapellas on them which he could use to mash-up.

  4. SatisfiedMind614 says I guess bliss is in the ear of the beholder...i have had other people tell me that they don't like it for the same exact reasons...but i love it...every time I listen I swear I hear a sample i didn't hear last time...and even when it its doesn't work, i still think it is more interesting than most popular music.

  5. Augusts1 says There is a DJ group from Australia that I saw perform at Area 2 four years ago that does the same thing. I can't recall their name off the top of my head but I will find their cd in my collection. I think you'd like them B.
