Bilingual songwriters do it better

Posted about 5 years ago
Got an email from my friend tonight and she was sitting at home attempting to write a song in French...she lives in West Virgina by the way...this makes me feel like such a slacker! I have tried writing songs in my own language and they all ended up sounding like really, really bad 15yr old emo girl poetry.Anyway, in my music obsessed mind....this is the fist song that popped into my head. Because everything I do MUST have a song attached to it, or it doesn't exist...

  1. Viva La Britt says I think Jorge was my favorite thing about this movie (second to that scene where Jeff Goldblum dons a Speedo). I need to start getting into his catalog soon...

  4. tybees says Haha, I love 15-yr old emo girl poetry: Lost in pain I don't know how to cope Hopes and dreams Tied up with a rope Can no one hear me Wandering alone Why won't you text me Or call me on the phone?

  5. Truth says seu jorge was the only thing good about that movie. so sad, because until Life Aquatic, every minute of Wes Anderson's films were pure gold. Regardless, two Seu Jorge cd's should be in your collection. Life Aquatic Sessions and Cru. Both excellent listens.

  6. twoshotpistol says Well I think too many people went into that movie expecting the royal tennenbaums, rushmore, and all the rest. When really Life Aquatic is a totally new style for Wes Anderson, I mean look at the way it was filmed, the animation, the set, the costumes, even the characters and actors I felt were much different than his older films. And thats what people didn't like, these "ch-ch-ch-changes". he he he. Feist does some good bilingual songs, like "Tout Doucement" Regina Spektor also has some russian and hebrew in some other songs of hers.

  7. SatisfiedMind614 says Ty....get out of my notebook!! Dude...that was gonna be my first single! I liked the movie...not as much as the other Wes Anderson flicks, but that is setting the bar pretty high.

  8. Viva La Britt says I didn't dislike the movie. In fact, to this day I defend it to the people I went with to see it and hated it. It dragged in spots- which made it seem much longer than its 120 minutes- but overall I'm certainly happy I saw it.

  9. tybees says I thought it was a good film too, Britt. I like a big dose of weird with my movies i.e. I Heart Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine, Punch Drunk Love etc...

  10. Viva La Britt says Tyler, the oddities of the movie- Jorge particularly- made the movie for me, too. Aw, I don't know how- cause it has, like, no plot at all- but Punch Drunk Love brought me to tears. _So_ good, right?

  11. SatisfiedMind614 says I love Paul Thomas Anderson...but didn't feel Punch Drunk Love so much...its had its moments...especially the scenes with Philip Seymour Hoffman...but overall i just that it was ok...but Huckabees and Eternal Sunshine are brilliant...as is Jesus Son

  12. tybees says I really love that movie. It gave me a new-found appreciation for Adam Sandler as a true actor. I wish he would take on more roles like that. But of course he just turns around and does 50 First Dates for a big fat paycheck y'know. Ahhh well :)

  13. annnna says The first thing I thought of when I read the title was The Arcade Fire and their french. j'aime beaucoup. Other language songs are cool. anyway i have not yet seen the life aquatic but heard a lot about how it is different from the other movies, some people say not as good. I'll try to keep an open mind when I do see it though.
