If you don't have it you can get it here by the way...http://satisfiedmind.multiply.com/music/item/1323What other tunes, from any and all genres, would you guys consider essential for any music fanatic to have??I have my pen and paper ready....

  7. Anna says p.s. I was joking up there. I don't know what the essentials are, I'm biased (like Dale up there). I can only think of my fav bands to nominate, which is not objective (like Dale up there).

  15. Marco1019 says From the 'downtempo' genre (or more specifically, music from the Eighteenth Street Lounge label): *Thievery Corporation* - _Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi_ and _The Mirror Conspiracy_ *Thunderball* - _Scorpio Rising_ and _Cinescope_ (I also like their debut album, _Ambassadors of Style_, but I always find myself listening to the other albums more.) *Federico Aubele* - _Gran Hotel Buenos Aires_ *Arkestra One* - self-titled album *Les Hommes* - self-titled album There are many other artists outside of the ESL label that I can't think of at the moment (today was actually a busy one for me at work). I just have a fondness for that label because it was Thievery's mix in the *DJ Kicks* series that introduced me to the genre.

  18. haggardpilot says there is a clear difference between songs I know I couldn't live without and songs I think every music fanatic should have. 99% of the time I'm too wrapped up in what makes sense to me to worry about what everyone else should be listening to. but if I had to think hard: Elton John - Tiny Dancer (I feel like I include this in every answer that is ever asked around here) Tim Buckley - Pleasant Street The Beatles - We Can Work It Out (only because Eleanor Rigby was already said) Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated The Temptations - Stand By Me Michael Jackson - Billie Jean that's all I've got for now. I couldn't imagine the world existing without any of those songs. also I don't think Anna was joking.

  29. 1234chainsaw says I have hard time deciding which Velvet Underground song is the most essential. Likewise with Clash, Ramones, Beatles, Buzzcocks, Pixies, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, Wire, The Who, Neil Young, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and many others. But from the Rolling Stones oeuvre, it must be "Gimme Shelter". From Roy Orbison I might go for "Crying" but perhaps "Pretty Woman" would be a more popular choice. John Peel's favorite song, namely "Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones. "Search And Destroy" by Iggy & The Stooges. "Academy Fight Song" by Mission Of Burma. "Venus" by Television ('cause "Marquee Moon" is a bit too long) "Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill" by Husker Du "Duel" by Swervedriver "Soon" by My Bloody Valentine "Eight Miles High" by The Byrds "Down In the Tube Station At Midnight" by The Jam "Trash" by New York Dolls "In a Hole" by The Jesus & Mary Chain "Like a Daydream" by Ride "A House Is Not a Motel" by Love
