here is one of my favorite songs off of one of my favorite albums in 2005. And one of my favorite bass players...I am in love...again!

  1. Dale says Yeah, what is about bass guitar, or a sense of humor, that gives a girl a couple of points on the scale? Can't wait for their new album.

  9. Joxley says When I saw the Subways in the summer she was wearing tiny gold hot pants...great memories. Also the lead singer (sorry, i'm bad with names) introduced this song by going "Now during this song I want you all to grab the arse of your rock'n'roll queen"...almost as good as when he dedicated a song to "All the pricks at T4 on the Beach, singing along to Orson"

  10. fairportfan says There used to be a band called *Hillbilly Frankenstein* (if i'm lucky, i have their only CD in storage somewhere). Their music has been described as "psychobilly" - not unlike the Cramps, in some ways, but with a less kinky overall message. (Although, sometimes not *too* much less so, with songs like *976-ESCORT* and one about a sexy 16-year-old that enjoys teasing older men...) Alice, the lead singer, was physically a showgirl type, but too smart for the type; often as not, she dressed like Minnie Pearl on bad acid; she played washboard on a couple of thier songs and, during the band's lifetime, literally wore out one washboard... Phyllis, the bass player, was sensational in her own way. She was not at all hard on the eyes, and some days she seemed to think of herself as Stevie Nicks and on some days as a really bad ass biker mama, judging by the selection of outfits she wore, ranging from battered jeans with ramone knees and t-shirts cut off to show her belly to flowing white gauzy gowns. She played both electric and stand-up bass, and the one thing that you knew for sure was that by the last encore, Phyllis was gonna have her big bass lying on its side, standing on top of it and whaling hell out of the electric bass. Also, *Cowboy Mouth* has had four bass players since starting up in '91, and the most recent two have been girls...

  11. haggardpilot says joxley - the lead singer is Billy. he's brilliant! I love the Subways so much. I met Charlotte at Lollapalooza and she is so incredibly lovely. very talkative and totally just into meeting new people all the time. her favorite dinosaur is the same as mine (velociraptor) and she signed my shoe! my big Subways love is Josh, the drummer. he was really excited it was my birthday. (big surprise, Bree loves the drummer.)
