WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Ben Gibbard For President

Posted over 3 years ago
Wow...I think Ben Gibbard is the most powerful man in music! The man has stroke...and the cool part is he is using it for good, not evil....He is like the pied piper, he put a myspace bulletin out and the masses have descended upon MOG!!! When I put a myspace bulletin up about MOG the only thing I got were invites to watch insanely hot girls with exotic sounding names on their web cams!!Welcome to you allpeaceblair

  1. Lester Jonze says yeah, I've noticed that myself. Sluggish tonight and lots of little kids who can't spell very well, hmm...

  2. nickiblodgett says Isn't he just incredible? He has that talent of saying so much in so few words that's so hard to come by.

  3. chucky says Don't tell Ben Gibbard, but I don't think I've ever heard a Death Cab for Cutie song. Although, thanks to fairportfan, I have heard the song they named themselves after. I need to rectify that oversight probably.

  4. k8girl says lester... I have been on the mog-o-sphere on and off for a few hours now and I have to agree. It's teensy bit annoying. Eh well, we are all entitled to our opinons. As for Death Cab. I think I own one of their songs, Transatlaticism (sp?), which I do love. I own some Postal Service (also love). But an ex-roommate of mine listened to them a bunch. As soon as I can get my hands back on her CD collection, I'll jam again. I agree... Ben's music is amazing. He's very very good at explaining emotions in a beautiful melodic way.

  6. eshep says chucky, dunno. you may or may not be missing anything. lots love the death cab. personally, although i thenk ben is probably a fine human being, i'm not sold on the hype. i like the dcfc/ps stuff ok, but it's not something i feel myself going back to again and again. i'm sure ben is not comfortable with the hype either, so i won't hold that against him. oh, and i personally think we need obama in the white house come 2008.

  8. bajita420 says While I'll admit that it is Ben's myspace post that got me on here, AND I am a huge Death Cab fan AND he should totally be the president of all music ever period, I want to put it out there, that had I known about MOG before Ben joined I would have joined it myself in a hot minute. I've only been on for a day or so, and its quickly taking up all my free time. In fact I should be studying right now, but instead I'm mogging. I think the teenyboppers will die off quickly, once they see its more about the music here rather than posting glitter comments to friends. But thats just a newbie's opinion....

  9. SatisfiedMind614 says Oh its not that bad! It just amazed me how much influence one myspace bulletin can have....as much as I disdain myspace(even though i still use it) i guess you can't underestimate its reach!

  10. Manos says I couldn't spell when I was in my 20s (Hell, I can't spell now!), and my musical tastes/opinions certainly weren't what they are now. At the same time, I've been turned on to a lot of great music by a lot of great Moggers of all ages. So only love here for the newbies. Regarding DCFC, hype shmype! They've produced some of the best music I've heard in years.

  11. SatisfiedMind614 says Gotta agree with Manos...the bigger the age range, the more diversity the better...

  12. Heli0tr0pe says Alright, the ass-kissing of Mr. Gibbard has reached epidemic levels around here. Let's settle down here, MOGgers - you're just embarrassing yourselves (and probably him) now...

  16. Manos says As much as I love the new Moggers, I will say that the number of pensive, oddly-angled self-portrait Mog photos has increased dramatically in the past 24 hours.

  17. Heli0tr0pe says Don't you dare call my dog 'oddly-angled'

  18. swillystar says Ben is an awesome lyracist. I saw him on Jay Leno, and Jay gave him props for his beautiful song(i will follow you into the dark). That is a pretty big deal, because Jay doesn't usually give a shit about his musical acts. He has said himself that he doesn't really care about music(which makes Jay a shmoe).

  21. SatisfiedMind614 says Ah I see....well then I will tell you that I was mocking the DCFC contigent....i like their music...but I am starting to dislike their fans!

  22. Cinful says Ben truly is a multi-talented, inspirational man ... my son knows alot of background about the Postal Service/DCfC and has passed a few tidbits of his insight on to me which has impressed me even more than enjoying the actual music itself!! But, president ... hmmmm ... let's just shoot for governor for now so he can get his feet wet!!

  24. k8girl says Ahhh... this is why I love MOG. The only thing that has made me laugh more online are those crazy videos on YouTube. Glitter comments, DCFDCFCF, twee pop, oddly angled self portraits. Very observant :)

  25. SatisfiedMind614 says Mog rules! I laugh at the DFCF, but i shudder to think at how I would act if Ryan Adams ever joined and posted something...it would probably result in me getting a restraining order

  26. nightowl13 says It would have been nice if Mog had had some sort of invite system at first, those seem to keep things organized.
