I Predict A Riot

Posted over 3 years ago
And this time I really mean it! There is this little football game here in Columbus on Saturday afternoon...And I am going on record right now and saying that there will be riots! I lived on campus for many years(i was on the 7yr plan) and they rioted when OSU beat Michigan, and they rioted when we lost to Michigan! Bottom line is that when college kids start drinking at 6AM for a game that won't end til about 7PM...only bad things will happen! In 2000 when we lost any blue car on Lane avenue was getting torched!! It was like a third world country...craziness!! And this year with both teams being undefeated coming into the game...lookout!! I personally love Ohio State and I love OSU football, but never have I been so excited or so distraught or so hammered that i thought setting someone's car on fire seemed like a good idea...so you may all check CNN early Sunday morning to see the carnage!!

  10. Lord Helmet says I'm impartial on this one; it's just going to be such a great game. (I will say, however, that I think the Buckeyes will be taking it home)

  14. cbowers says One good thing about being in CHI, I did get to see OSU destroy Northwestern last Sat. Great Seats! Ryan Field is like a High School stadium. No such luck this weekend, though. I'll be in the Columbus area watching it from the comfort of mine.

  15. SatisfiedMind614 says Man, from my television it looked like there were almost as many OSU fans as NW fans! I guess since they couldn't get tickets here they drove to Chi-town! Speaking of tickets, they are going for as much $4200 a pair

  16. cbowers says As much as I'd love to be there for that game, I do believe I'd use (if I had it) $4200 for my kids OSU college savings acct.

  17. SatisfiedMind614 says NO DOUBT! My girlfriend and I had season tickets during the national championship season of 2002, and that game was big but nothing like this Saturday's game...and we sold ours for $500 each! That was a no brainer!! We still went down and tailgated and watched it on the big screen, plus we were able to finance a Vegas vacation out of the deal!

  18. Dale says You know I'm saying Michigan just to start something, right? Wow, that's a lot of vitriol. I don't hate ASU that much, and they're Devils.

  19. Takeshi Kovacs says Went to a NW game in 80 or 81 (can't remember) but they were in the middle of a record setting losing streak. It was so strange, everyone was cheering the bad plays and the booing the good plays. What's one win compared to "The streak"? Surreal experience I think they ended up losing like 48 in a row or something...

  20. SatisfiedMind614 says Dale...i knew you were smarter than that!! Tak, man I remember when they were historically bad...i still cant believe that they made it to a Rose bowl in my life time...its kind of like what Rutgers is doing this year

  21. gympumpkin says Given the number of drunk OSU fans I saw on the el on Saturday (both before and after the game with Northwestern), I agree with your prediction. Actually, some of the fans were on the el during the game. I think they left early because it was a blowout. That surprised me that they would leave a game early, one in which their team was winning. Oh well.

  22. SatisfiedMind614 says I apologize on behalf of my city and my alma mater! Drunk Ohio State fans are SO obnoxious!!

  24. gympumpkin says I think all drunk sports fans are obnoxious. You should see Wrigley Field on a Friday afternoon game in the summer :) And yes, I am occasionally a drunk sports fan myself, yet I try to behave :)

  25. SatisfiedMind614 says HA! In a fight though I would take soccer hooligans over american footbal rioters anyday of the week!! Those fights get crazy violent!
    Permalink posted 11/15/2006
  26. gympumpkin says They do! Although, I have to say, at hockey games I often see better fights in the stands than on the ice. Especially when Red Wings fans are in town. Although the last big fight I saw, I think it was between two Blackhawks fans.

  27. SatisfiedMind614 says OH! Good call...drunken hockey fans could give soccer hooligans a run for their money! I am sensing a Pay Per View spectacular!

  29. ChiaraSera says Blair, i hope this doesnt put me on your bad side, but this weekend i'm rooting for Michigan. I'm feeling lots of self loathing for this, but i have to! ND's only loss is to Michigan and if they trounce you guys it will improve our very very megear chances to play for the national championship. so even tho i hate michigan, and would normally choose OSU, i've gotta do what's best for me...i'm sure you understand. but if you do lose, i think a riot would be a very good way to retaliate. Muck Fichigan (but only after they beat OSU...:)

  30. SatisfiedMind614 says Chiara...you are dead to me! NO...nothing wrong with being a loyal fan, you gotta look out for number one, so I understand...but I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of a beautiful day last January in Arizona.... Ohio State 34 Notre Dame 20

  31. ChiaraSera says haha that's ok, i can take it, you guys were clearly the better team...that day. We ND fans are used to it crappy bowl performances the past few years :) haha

  32. Peggah says When U of M was playing against MSU, there were frats throwing EGGS at people wearing green. It was disgusting and awful. I'll be rooting for MI because, well I am a student here, but fuck football in general. Riots are ridiculous. Having a riot because you won or lost a game, how novel. Why not riot to do something to, oh I don't know, change something!
