WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Moggers...dust off those yearbooks

Posted over 2 years ago
This is another post brought to you by the combined powers of insomnia and nostalgia. A potent combo to say the least. And apparently even fire has a soft side when it comes to nostalgia. When I was first walking through what was left of my house last July, I found my high school yearbook from my senior year, miraculously untouched by the flames. Everything around it was incinerated, but this one book wasn't even touched. I actually keep it underneath the driver's side seat in my car, it serves as a nice reminder to the utter and complete randomness of life.Anyway, for some reason I brought it in tonight and as I sort of flipped through it the the idea hit me. I would love to see a list of all your 'class songs' from your senior year in high school. It will be interesting to see how the choices vary depending on year, location, etc.Just post the song or video as a comment here when you have a chance...or if you prefer just type it out...but the more songs the better I always say. Here is mine...you can see that we were far from the hippest school in Columbus, OH...if it wasn't on MTV, it didn't exist...that was our mindset...myself included...thank God for growing older.(extra bonus points if anyone graduated that year Green Day's 'Good Riddance' came out and it WASN'T your class song,...first time I heard that song I thought Billy Joe wrote it in an attempt to make every yearbook in America)

  1. Dale says OK, but no laughing. There wasn't really a class song, but there was a big push my senior year to win a contest, the grand prize being a concert from these guys. That's SoCal for you ... now you understand.

  2. ngtivspace says Yeah, alright, we had the damn Greenday song. DALE: Nice! I don't think anyone will post a better highschool nostalgia band than Boingo. Did you win the show?? :)

  5. contrabandwidth says I whole heartedly agree with your "Good Riddance" analogy. I'm pretty sure it might have been the year my wife graduated high school, but I can't remember. There's a 5 year difference between us. I can't remember at the moment, but I think it was "End of The Road" for most of the high school graduations I went to the year I graduated (95). My school was super tiny, so we didn't have things like that, but I went to so many commencements I wanted to make a list of the repeating themes and synonyms that the valedictorians used when writing their speeched (I have a good idea that the thesaurus (thesauri?) were always in arms reach. I'll have to post later some of the lyrics I poured over for my Senior Page, should be funny.

  9. Rawkkiddoh says I didnt go until my senior year, happens to be when I finally got a girl to agree to go out with me. Missing anything, lets see in one word NO. Funny story here, went to prom again when I was 23. Was at my good friends house and his sister came home in tears saying how she was just dumped and she would not be able to go to prom in 2 days. Jokingly I said dont worry, I will go with you. She didnt see it as a joke, and I was to nice not to take her. I was waiting for Chris Hanson to come out and ask me what I was doing there.

  10. SatisfiedMind614 says Chris Hanson...hahaha...what a sweet gesture though!! And at 23 you probably felt like 43...kids today! Man, that is like something that happens in a sit com...or a teen movie..you didn't fall in love and marry her did you?

  11. Rawkkiddoh says no she fell for me, and I have a thing about dating friends sisters who are still in high school. The best part of the night was seeing the teachers faces when I told them I was a teacher in Saint Paul. I still wonder if any of them felt the need to call that in
