Time for part two of this very limited (due to my rather short list of relationships) seriesJenniferThis one diverges ever so slightly from the initial concept. I don't think that she had a favorite band, so to speak. She did, however, have an intense passion for music and introduced me to many artists of which I had been previously unfamiliar. For that, I am eternally greatful. The reason I chose Cat Power is twofold. First, she was a big fan. She included Cat Powers music on mix CD's which we listened to frequently. Two, and the main reason, when we ended our relationship, I listened to the Moon Pix album almost exclusively. I don't mean that I played it on repeat for a couple hours after the breakup, rather, I played it for months. It finally got to the point that the album was, and is, so ingrained into my head that I can no longer listen to it without memories of her insantly popping into my head. While this may sound obsessive (and at the time I suppose that to a degree it was), it really was more cathartic than anything else. This all occured a number of years ago, and yet I still inculde this album in my current musical rotations. That may sound depressing considering the afformentioned memories, but I now find happiness when listening to it. These days it reminds of the good times more than the bad while still maintaing it's ability to nourish my sad days when needed.
