since i last mogged. But there seems much more to rant about now.2007 seems to be a pretty exciting musical year. New Bright Eyes, Arctics, Ryan Adams, Willy Mason, Arcade Fire, Nizlopi, Bjork, and even the mighty mighty Radiohead may grace us with a new album. a return to their rock roots? an album of 3 minute pop wonders? dont hold your breath.Of course, theres still a fuck load to moan about.Namely. Mika. I only have to think about his name/music/squealy faux-camp bollox and i feel ill. The british charts are infected right now with Mika fauning wankery, and the ever-more-irritating Razorlight (they havent spent all their lives 'watching America', they've spent them taking drugs and writing the most dissapointing follow up since the Second Coming).Maybe i should start a regular blog called 'What grinds my gears' in the style of Family Guy. In fact...WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS:-Mika, Razorlight (as mentioned)-'LDN is a Victim'. If you havent heard about this, then good. Its a piss-take song the slates some of the most intriguing and brilliant artists to come out of the UK in years, and why?!? cos they've got london accents!! Wankers. The song covers Lily Allen (overplayed, but gorgeous), Kate Nash (ballsy singer songwriter covered in previous Samiad posts), Just Jack (kinda like the Streets but more melodic) and a whole host of others.Wankers.Hmm...maybe i should just call this section 'Wankers'. To the point, no?-Avril Lavigne. Is is possible to sell out twice?? She probably grew up writing songs and varying quality, and dreamed of stardom. yada yada. Then she sold her soul to a record company that turned her into very marketable 'Rock'. (please note im using the word rock in quote marks). After dwindling sales of even this puke enducing product, she comes out with 'Girlfriend'. Dance routines, pig tails, cleavage. And the worst lyrics ive heard since the Cheeky Girls 'Touch my bum, this is life'. Here they are:'She's like, so, whateverYou could do so much better'PEOPLE BUY THIS! PEOPLE BUY THIS! yes, its actually number 3 in the Uk charts. Its a violation of my ears!-Uk Radio. Now, there is a reason that i never listen to the radio. Every song i attempt to like, is detroyed by mainstream radio playing it on repeat all day. The office next door to mine is playing some radio station that seems to think playing 'Shine' by Take That once every other song is somehow amusing. ITS NOT! Nor is doing the same for Gwen Stefani. Now, everyone sing along..'Woo hoo WAAA hoo!'. Death. Death. Pain.AND THAT WAS THIS WEEKS 'WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS'I'll end on a positive. I'm seeing Bloc Party this week. I'm gonna dance like a loony!Oh, and i just bought a kinder egg. I wonder what surprises await....?!?!?
