WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Favorite Death Cab lyrics:

Posted about 1 year ago

"Like a book elegantly bound, but, in language that you can't read. Just yet."

-I will possess your heart

"And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today. As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me."

-What Sarah Said

"And the silence; it became so very clear. That you had long ago disappeared. I cursed myself for being surprised that this didn't play like it did in my mind."

-Bixby Canyon Bridge

"A storm at sea, the bow cracked and I was capsizing. And I sunk below where I swore I would never go."

-Pity and Fear

"Cause in my head there's a greyhound station; where I send my thoughts to far off destinations; so they may have a chance of finding a place where they're far more suited than here."

-Soul Meets Body

Nice choices...why did you choose them?

Imagery alone?  The way they fit in the song?

He does writes some beautiful lyrics, and I find myself drawn to them for different reasons.

Some of my favorite, if lesser known, songs are so, because I have realized that he is excellent in making and communicating observations.  To name a few..

    "Death Of An Interior Decorator"

    "Company Calls Epilogue"

    "I Was A Kaleidescope"

"Like Ice In A Drink,  Invisible Ink,  Or Dreams In The Cold Light Of Day,

The Children Of RocknRoll Never Grow Old,  They Just Fade Away."

There are others...yeah, you struck a chord...if not touched upon one of my favorite subjects.

Love the songs - I'm actually fairly new to Death Cab, so this is a treat.

What about the lyrics?  It's the rawness, yet gentleness of the delivery - very potent.  And I'm a sucker for metaphor.

    Thank-you again for sharing.
