so i was sitting on the couch eating shrimp and watching the godfather on tv, when during a commercial break, i heard a very familiar sound. the commercial was about dish washers or something, but i was consumed with the song they played. i couldnt remember who it was by, but i knew i had it somewhere. off to my computer (vito corleone would have to wait) to search for "Mr. Blue Sky." my computer couldnt find it! NOOOO. but i knew i had it somewhere, so i started foraging for old burned cds. i grabbed a stack of about 20, with cd titles such as "9 songs that sound like good" and "a bushel of music." instead of playing them through my puter, i broke out my old cd player that i had stopped using when i got my mp3 player. as i silently rocked out to all the old hits, i began to remember all the good times i had with my player. falling asleep in class to some slow jams, the trance music that made long bus rides from wrestling matches much more enjoyable, or the first day that my dad called me "radiohead." i finally found the ELO song i was looking for, and of course it was the last cd in the pile. but it was fun going through that experience. so i encourage all of you ipod wearing foo yo yos to dig up those old means of memories, mixs, tapes, vinyls, and relive the good ol days!
