ello, im back from my trip through the exotic and luscious midwest. and i gotta tell ya, it was a looong one. my sister, her husband, their two dogs and i drove from austin tx (which upon closer examination - turns out you have to be at least 21 years old to enjoy) to my home here in washington. conveniently, my sister told me on the last day, "you know what, we should have just flown back and had everything shipped." ya. we should have. i brought my camera thinking 'oh ya, im traveling! take pics adurrrrr.' but after looking through the 150+ photos i took, i realized they all look the same! haha my bad. i underestimated the entertainment value from inside a car. well, it wasnt all so bad. colorado was cool. met some neat peeps. we stayed at my sis's friends place one night, and after noticing a poster downstairs and a 'U2 by U2' coffee table book, i began talking music with em. good people i say. but i still cant get over how desolate wyoming is. i know its the least populated state in america, but the fact that i didnt see one town after hooking up with I-80 is pretty sad. anyway, i listened to a lot of music to keep me sane, and i thought i would put together a short video to one of the songs that got me home. its sped up really fast so it shouldnt get boring. like a slideshow on crack. very "‘futral-esk.’":http://mog.com/Sam_The_Artist/blog_post/126955the song is a dntel remix of lali puna's 'faking the books' and ive posted lali puna's remix of dntel's 'this is the dream of evan and chan' up top. sleepy time now.

  1. Jonh Ingham says This reminds me of driving from northern Oregon to San Francisco. Beautiful landscapes and vistas wrapped up in hours of seeming to hardly move. America looks really good when it's sped up!

  2. annieander says Nice montage Sam... I love Faking the Books (great headphone fodder), and I am partial to the original over the Dntel remix. The remix feels more frenetic and rushed. The remix of The Dream...I can go either way on...the original or the remix. Eeksy Peesky. I miss Ben Gibbard's contributions to the song. Don't forget to check out my "> > EZ3kiel < <":http://mog.com/annieander/blog_post/151842 post (posted while you were away). I also uploaded the album somewhere else...just in case. Great to have you back...

Sam The Artist says ji: ive done that drive a couple times. i love passing shasta. but that trip is waay more green than what i just experienced ha! annie: ya i know what cha mean. sometimes the remix doesnt feel... finished. but the trip was kinda rushed so i guess it fits! the evan and chan remix i like because its simple. the original almost blows my head off trying to capture everything. thanks for the warm welcome!

  6. Augusts1 says Haha, only you would make a vid of your boring road trip & make it at least 'look' interesting. I've driven through Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, etc. so I can vouch for the desolate nature of those states. They are SOOOooooo flaaaaaaat! Nice songs though! Btw, been meaning to ask you: wtf is up w/your avatar pic? whatthehell is that? I could tell you what I think it looks like but then I don't want to get all X-rated on here, hehe. I'm sure that's you in the jeans & tennies but the rest is a big WHA? lol

  13. melissacarn says re: shaggs here is how i would describe the shaggs, since you said you'd never heard anything by them. three sisters wrote music in the 1960s which is awful, sing in terribly out-of-key voices, and play instruments that they appear to have just picked up and never practiced on before. yet for some reason people think they're "genius" and "groundbreaking". their music is so bad it's funny.
