I gotta tell you a little story here: When their first single "Emergency On Planet Earth" came out I thought the lead singer was a black female & I didn't have cable at the time so I didn't see the vid. A friend of mine who worked at a record store also thought JK was a black female, so if a record store employeed thought so it MUST be true, right? I kinda lost track of them after their first album & it wasn't until like '96 or '97 that I was talking w/another friend who were into them. That's when "Travelling Without Moving" was out & I had gotten back into them & I mentioned something to my friend about the lead singer being a black female. My friend said 'Wtf are you talking about? The lead singer is white, male & British!" Needless to say I WAS rather embarassed. I couldn't believe that I had gone for 3-4 years thinking JK was a black woman! Tff eh?

   Augusts1 says His tenor voice is high enough & he's got the soul to back it up, no? Maybe more so though on 'Emergency'. But seriously, there are some black female singers that sound more masculine than JK like Nina Simone or Cassandra Wilson(who've I posted about "*here*":http://mog.com/Augusts1/blog_post/80858#comments & I love) so it's not totally out of the imaginable.

   Sam The Artist says i can totally hear what cha mean. i have a postal service remix of ninas 'little girl blue' and the first time i heard it i swore it was a man singing. but its awesome.
