Mr. Lif

Dark album from the Definitive Jux crew. El-P produces with dischordant sparse beats. Any MC that has lines like "The Bush administration is worth nothing/ Fuck 'em" is OK by me. An angry album that speaks to the vibe of the country right now.

  2. Kwan says How does Mega compare to "I Phantom"? I first heard lif on phantom and kinda stuck him in the same camp as anticon and paul barman-interesting but..nah but i'm a def jux head for life so i would check him on guest spots and white labels. you heard the verse he has on that apsci album? that's when i actually started feeling him. I'm going back for all the old stuff now. plus he just started fuckin with okayplayer so i have to dig into the back catalog.

  4. SWHITE says Mega is darker than I Phantom. Lyrically he's on some pretty negative, dark shit. Production is more polished - not sure that is good given his lyrical style. "I Phantom" is a coming of age joint to me - young kid rhyming about coming up. The new album is political and more pointed.
