I haven't had a ton of time to listen, let alone purchase and listen to new stuff, but I did pick up Lucinda Williams' Little Honey. This is a very good record infused with lots of heart - ole Lucinda has gone and fell in love. The opening track, Real Love is crunchy stomp that sets the tone and the duet with Elvis is sad, sweet, and hilarious all rolled together.
I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Lucinda. My Dad and I took a trip, driving across the country about 5 years ago. We went the southern route and ended up hitting little hole in the wall joints for tunes, food and drink. In Nashville, it just so happened Lucinda was playing the Ryman Auditorium the night we pulled into town. We wrangled tix and saw an amazing show. Charlie Sexton from Dylan's band joined Doug Pettibone on guitarand towards the end of show Emmylou Harris jumped(literally, she was in the front row watching the show) on stage and sang about 5 or 6 numbers. a great night, so rich, shared with my Dad.
