Nr 9- Roisin Murphy- Overpowered

Band: Roisin MurphyTitle: OverpoweredBest Track: Let Me KnowBest Line: “When I think I’m over you, I’m overpowered.”Trivia: The second album of Roisin Murphy “Let Me Know” was the official first Single of the album Former singer of the band MolokoRoisin Murphy's second solo album, "Overpowered", has me fascinated. The fragility of her voice and the lyrics- the singles of the album often putting her in a I-can't-get-over-him role- are put to a backdrop of disco-pop. Often mid-paced, sometimes more danceable than others, this album is just a great mix of synth-driven pop tunes and the fragility and intelligence I love about indie. Smart lyrics like "I risk my reputation, just to get a room" are put on an upbeat tune to blend into this delicious mix. Tracks like "Let Me Know", "You Know Me Better", and "Overpowered" are highlights of this album that succeeds to make you dance, but still is able to resonate insecurity and other such emotions." ...as a showcase for Rosin Murphy’s talent, Overpowered is an enormous success." - Stylus"She's funny, clever, heartbreaking, and strident, the kind of disco singer Dusty Springfield never quite had the abandon to become." - Pitchfork" I hope Ireland doesn't get too offended if Britain comes to its senses and recognises Roisin Murphy as a National Treasure." - The ObserverAdded is the song "Overpowered". I wanted to add another song, but can you only add songs that you are able to tag? Because every time I tried to upload "Let Me Know" it failed to do so.

  1. Bartleby says It was high time Róisín Murphy had some of the credit that she deserves. The songs, the production and above all her voice make the album a gem of 2007. PS: To add a second song, you can upload the mp3 file being mindful that you click on the "click here to upload" when this message prompts up:" Not what you wanted? Click here to upload -- Note: uploading an mp3 replaces the Rhapsody song previously mapped to the post tags, and only the mp3 will be presented to users as part of the post." Then copy and paste it the link with the tilde signs in your comments. It's the easiest way.

  2. SA says Yeah, I haven't heard much about her here on Mog, but I thought it was a very good album. :) Thanks for the write-up on how to do it. I might try it, but knowing me and computers, despite such a thorough walkthrough, it will end up in frustration anyway. :P But thanks!
