Don't You Love "Somebody to Love"?

The Jefferson Airplane had two monster Top 10 hits: "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," both of which originated with Grace Slick's previous band, The Great! Society, where her husband, Jerry Slick, played guitar and brother-in-law Darby Slick (who wrote the song) played drums. Where the JA version has become an overly familiar staple of oldies radio, this 1966 live version is something else...

The Replacements Rip SNL A New One

The Replacements perform "Bastards of Young" and "Kiss Me on the Bus," from their album Tim, on the January 18, 1986 Saturday Night Live. In true punk fashion, they appear for the first time before a national audience (I think) totally drunk, out of control, stupid and beautiful. Some people think this is the greatest SNL performance in history.
