They are the biggest Canadian band...in Canada. Still struggling to get past a small college following in the US (Buffalo and border cities are exceptions), but these guys have many great cds all ready for you to discover. If you're looking for a cd to start with, "Road Apples" is fantastic. Btw, they are amazing live.

...which is very good song, but each of her cds have been strong. Some of her best tracks include "Silver Road", "New Enemy", "Don't Get Your Back Up" and from most recent cd, "I am Aglow". Another great Canadian folk artist.

Great body of work for someone who (because he's far too country for rock/pop radio and seen somehow as too edgy for country radio) is still relatively unknown. Unfortunately those who do know him generally remember "Copperhead Road" far far from his best. Great news is if you're just getting into him you have a lot to go back and find (and hopefully a lot more to come. Tough to recommend "best

If you like the broad Canadian "folk" sound (Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Hayden, Feist, Blue Rodeo, Bruce Cockburn, Jesse Malin, Sarah Harmer), I'm sure you'll enjoy Jim's solo work. Start with "I'll Make Believe That She's You" (Jeff Tweedy is guest vocalist) and go from there. Great voice, sweet songs...

...but she has done so much more. Mellow, often jazzy, with a unique voice that drwas you in. Her recent cd "Sentimental" was something of a comeback after some weaker efforts, but also try her first "Ancient Heart" and second "Sweet Keeper" to get into her.
