If you don't, why the eff not?!Cannibal Ox was, before their untimely demise earlier this year, one of the best hip-hop acts... probably ever.The Cold Vein a brilliant and beautifully honest look at growing up in Harlem, friendship vs. love, and just about everything relevant in between. This isn't that bullshit they play on the radio with some douche showing off the 5,000 diamonds he got soldered into his teeth, talking at you about the cars he drives, the women he bangs, and just how fly his crib is. This is real urban poetry. Not just lyrics to spit or whatever the parlance of our time may be, but actual, honest to God poetry.I'm not going to go on and on and on about this, I will close with the following two statements. I was not a hip hop fan until I listened to this record. And... Elvis Costello was quoted saying he loves this record. So much so that in order to get it out and get people listening to it, he'll just give it away and immediately buy another one for himself.Elvis Costello likes Can Ox.You will too.
