I been away so long I hardly knew the place
Hi Moggers ---- Now let me try and give this a shot ...RESURRECTION SHUFFLE
It's Friday people and this is one of those songs that just make you feel good deep down inside and and want to get out and boogie. This MP3 track has been one of my Top 10 tracks since it's appeared back in 1971. Thanks to Underground Radio WBCN the only one that played this song back in the day. This was also a single by Tom Jones but I have to say this one by AGD is far superior.
Below is Ultra-rare footage of Ian Paice on UK TV Programme, Gastank, from 1983. Featuring Rick Wakeman & Tony Ashton.

“Its coming on Christmas, they’re cutting down trees, they’re putting up reindeer, and singing songs of joy and peace. Oh, I wish I had a river to skate away on…”
One of the saddest but one of my favorites.
So sings Joni Mitchell on quite possibly one of the saddest holiday tunes ever recorded to tape. A cornerstone track off her 1971 LP, Blue, “River,” complete with it’s faux “Jingle Bells” piano intro, has since been covered by many artists but never once executed with the depth and gravity of the authors original. Essential.

Great tune dude, good choice. I agree with your call. This is a sadness from the depths of emptiness, lonliness. A postcard from a rootless soul.
Early on in his career, someone described Phil Ochs as a "singing journalist. From 1967 Such a Happy little ditty until the lyrics kicks in.
The first verse is a commentary on the murder of Kitty Genovese. She was murdered March 14th, 1964 in NYC.
Even though 47,000 New York City residents have been murdered since, hers remains the most tragic because 38 "citizens" awakened by her cries for help watched as she was assaulted not once, but three times over a half hour period. Not only did they fail to come to her aid, they also failed to call the police for help. Vincent Mosely, her assailant, stabbed her several times, then left, only to return a few minutes later to cut her up a little more. One study concluded that on average, if more than 4 people witness an event, nobody will do anything. Each person will say to themselves "I don't have to get involved since there are other people here who can help."

You didn't mention the guest stars. Sir Cedric Claptoe & George, Son Of Harry, make this a bit more than a curiosity.
