This is a snippet, a blip of a blurb in advance of me really laying it down, full description and all.
Here I go ahead and promote Frank Morey's Saturday night show in the Village, but end up doing something completely different.
I was looking tattered and winter-worn-down, and I like to look good for a Frank Morey concert. Ah, vanity....
So Saturday, spur of the moment, I bought a ticket to see the Winterpills CD release party at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA.
It was fantastic. I beamed little rays of happiness all throughout the opening set with Mark Schwaber, and a full-on floodlight of joy poured forth while the Winterpills and friends played. Both Schwaber and the Winterpills sound as good, if not better, live as they do on their CDs. Plus - they are all charmers. The Winterpills' guitarist Dennis Crommett - hilarious and adorable [wink-wink]. The show was sold out and the crowd was electrically responsive.
Oh, yeah, and I saw Chris Pureka in the audience! On my digital collection - check out "Come Back Home." Haunting.
Mark Schwaber's song, "Man Down," gut-wrenching with fear and tragedy. You'll get what I mean when you listen to the track.
Winterpills - all the tracks are beautiful - check out "Broken Arm" and " Hide Me."
Next time, Frank....
