Public Image Ltd. to reunite (kind of) for UK tour

Posted 2 months ago

When Kele Okereke came up to John Lydon at the 2008 Summercase festival and asked him whether he'd reform PiL at any point, the Bloc Party singer/guitarist got a volley of racist abuse and an vicious assault from the Sex Pistols frontman and his entourage.

However, Lydon seems to have taken the idea onboard, and so this December he will lead Public Image Ltd. onto UK stages for a five-date tour. Lydon will be backed by Lu Edmonds and Bruce Smith - who joined the band's late-80s line-up for Album - and multi-instrumentalist Scott Firth. The tour coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of the critically acclaimed Metal Box (later released as Second Issue).

Public Image Ltd. will play the following UK shows:

Tuesday 15th December - O2 Academy, Birmingham
Wednesday 16th December - O2 Academy, Leeds
Friday 18th December - O2 Academy, Glasgow
Saturday 19th December - Academy, Manchester
Monday 21st December - O2 Brixton Academy, London

although it was a different lineup and i had walked into the sessions as a total fan, after working with PiL in the studio for two months in the 80's i'm glad they're not even playing in my country!  it was a total drag and when i see john periodically on the street i don't bother saying hello.  i guess it shows what an effect he can have on people that i even get upset posting this!  mission accomplished on his side.
