  2. RobinH says Hey Darmuzz, I have become rather addicted to this band. Reminds me why I got into metal in the first place - the escapism, the fun. You can just rock out to this stuff and forget all your troubles. This actually brought a tear to my eye. I have to check this band out when they next tour the UK, it just looks like so much fun. Check out Gandalf rocking out in the front row of this next clip for Revenge is a Vulture. Suffice to say I have their last 2 cd's winging thier way to me as we speak.

  3. darmuzz says So you weren't kidding about the plastic sword...I like their sound, kind of old-school "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" Hey, just looked them up, did not realize they are Canadian!

  4. RobinH says There is def a NWOBHM vibe in there. They seem to have got a great combination of old and new, I think the dual vocals work real well. It's a sort of Powermetalcore. Canada produces some great heavy bands: Rush, Triumph, Anvil, Helix, Voivod, Annihilator, etc.

  5. darmuzz says IMO, there are still Rush and Triumph fans here, but Anvil and Helix have shifted to joke status - I did listen to them in the 80s though. I am just getting back into metal after a long absence - I do tend to like the old NWOBHM sound, power/progressive metal, and metal/punk/hardcore crossover...suggestions welcome!

  6. RobinH says Don't know how brutal you like your crossover, but have you checked out this metalcore band - Walls Of Jerico - Theres No I In Fuck You. While, for a bit of retro riff-fest, here is Pride Tiger - 56 Days

  7. darmuzz says Thanks Robin, I must say I like the first one much better! Although here and there, the Pride Tiger song reminded me of Thin Lizzy. Lately I have been listening to punk/screamo bands and hard rock such as The Blood Brothers, Alexisonfire, Rise Against and Billy Talent. I have heard some of the newer screamo bands like Underoath, and some that are considered more metal like Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. I also don't mind some of the established bands like System of a Down and Tool. I'll let you know how my research progresses!
