Singing Drummers

Posted over 2 years ago
Found this live clip of Jellyfish from BBC Later... with Jools Holland 14th May 1993.It got me thinking about musicians who sing and drum at the same time. Anyone out there got any other examples?

  1. dermahrk says Oh geez, Don Henley and Levon Helm. Ringo Starr. I love this clip. They were such a great band live - I'm amazed that they were able to recreate those studio records onstage.

  2. RobinH says Yeah. I was amazed how close to the album it sounded. Although, most bands I have seen on Later... manage to get a superior (and sometimes heavier) sound.

  3. chulsmith says phil collins in genesis? i don't remember... i just did it in a short set played friday night - it was my drumming debut (normally i play guitar). it's a bit more difficult to drum and sing than it is to play guitar and sing. and by 'a bit', i mean 'a lot a bit'...

  4. theyouthcard says Biffy Clyro!! The drummer does a lot of singing. If not doing the choruses then he is usually doing backing and he is awesome!! Great voice and amazing drumming!!

  7. RobinH says Of course, RGM. Exciter, almost forgot about them. I was well into them around the time of 'Violence and Force'.

  9. RobinH says I also remember them from an early 'thrash' compilation I picked up on vinyl at the time, something called "Hell Comes To Your House" (I think). I believe it also had Ride The Lightning by Metallica and also some early Japanese Thrash bands.
