Time is a valuable thing

Posted over 4 years ago
This song just came up on a Contemporary Metal 'shuffle' I had constructed. Always reminds me of relationship 'dead-ends' and also to live life to the full.It starts with one thingI don't know whyIt doesn't even matter how hard you try keep that in mindI designed this rhymeTo explain in due timeAll I knowTime is a valuable thingWatch it fly by as the pendulum swingsWatch it count down to the end of the dayThe clock ticks life awayIt's so unrealDidn't look out belowWatch the time go right out the windowTrying to hold on, but didn't even knowWasted it all just to watch you goI kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apartWhat it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time whenI tried so hardAnd got so farBut in the endIt doesn't even matterI had to fallTo lose it allBut in the endIt doesn't even matterOne thing, I don't know whyIt doesn’t even matter how hard you try, keep that in mindI designed this rhyme, to explain in due timeI tried so hardIn spite of the way you were mocking meActing like I was part of your propertyRemembering all the times you fought with meI'm surprised it got so (far)Things aren't the way they were beforeYou wouldn't even recognize me anymoreNot that you knew me back thenBut it all comes back to me (in the end)You kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apartWhat it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time whenI tried so hardAnd got so farBut in the endIt doesn't even matterI had to fallTo lose it allBut in the endIt doesn't even matter I’ve put my trust in youPushed as far as I can goAnd for all thisThere's only one thing you should knowI tried so hardAnd got so farBut in the endIt doesn't even matterI had to fallTo lose it allBut in the endIt doesn't even matter

  2. RobinH says I know exactly what you mean. Every time it comes up on a shuffle, I end up playing it several times. I actually have it on an interesting playlist constructed from an album list published in the UK rock magazine Kerrang. I think they called the list Contemporary Metal and was part of a series of lists they called the Ultimate Rock Collection. The list for Contemporary Metal was as follows: Deftones - Around The Fur Korn - Korn Slipnot - Slipnot Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar System Of A Down - System Of A Down Limp Bizkit - Significant Other Incubus - Make Yourself Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory Evanescence - Fallen Papa Roach - Infest I don't know, me and my lists. Ha! I even have a little black book with my lists in.
