Here is another great singer songwriter in the Townes tradition. Chris hails from Slaughters Ky. but spend a lot of time in Nashville these days. Two of my most memorable nights of live music have involved Chris. One was a solo showcase put on by his then label MCA Nashville in St. Pete Beach, the other was an all out rockin' assault at the now defunct Ace of Clubs in Nashville with the great David Grissom of Joe Ely's band on Guitar. (He opened for Ely in yet another label showcase)His songs are sometimes dark and he can turn a phrase like no ones business. Here is a tale of love gone south and self pity. Fill up your mason jar with Jack, grab a rocker on the porch and enter the beautiful sadness of Chris Knight.

Yeah, a little heavy on the self pity - but clever, engaging lyrics. I'd like to hear some of his all out rockin’ assault stuff...

Check out Framed or Hammer Going Down from the 1st record called Chris Knight. Grissom lets loose on the latter. He also does a lot of great covers i.e 6 Days on the road etc. The CD called Trailer Tapes is great as well. This was recently released but features the demos he cut that got him recognized in the first place. Really bare emotional stuff.
