Not much else one can say about the following. The man that brought us Puppy Love steps out with swing versions of a few new American classics. I wonder what Kurt would say?

I heard this album from a friend about two years ago and, oddly enough, it's pretty good through-out. Thanks.

Cost Centre #2 has eaten a rather strong chocolate pudding and is quite lively. I've played him a couple of other versions of this. But he likes the Paul Anka best. (Me, I like the Patti Smith. And it's my computer.)

Ted was discovered while busking on the streets of Venice Beach. He had a couple of records on Rounder before Geffen signed him in the early 90's. He carried his milk crate stool everywhere he went and kept time with a wood plank on the floor that he used as a percussive metronome.

I love this man's voice. passionate and raw. His voice had the ability to cut through the din of any room. He rarely needed amplification. His sets were a combination of originals and covers. A haunting cover of Webb Pierce' There Stands The Glass appears on the record along with this gem. Sadly, Ted passed not too long after the Geffen record came out. Proof that perseverance pays off. Here's a link to the official Ted Hawkins home page. http://www.the-bunker.org/ted/ted.html Have a great weekend y'all!

Artist: Album: Return of the Grievous Angel Track:

Gram Parsons was the original Cosmic Cowboy! Back in the late 90's Almo records put together a brilliant tribute to Gram called return of the Grievous Angel. The record features a wide range of artists from Steve Earle to Beck and even Emmy Lou shows up to pay tribute to her lost soul mate and executive produce the collection. It's hard to pick any one track to single out but this ethereal version of Ooh Las Vegas by the Cowboy Junkies was the first that totally blew me away. I believe it's meant to be played loud so crank it up. The records covers the entire Gram career from the Burritos through the later solo stuff. Enjoy.
