tis evil, apparently it took me to a 'post mp3' link that i didn't see; it plays what i think is a live version if you click on the song title. benjimon had a post about the mighty caesars and these guys played a lot of gigs with billy childish under whatever band name (billy's - the prisoners stuck with theirs). have a couple albums worth of this if yr curious. which reminds, do you know what label that monotonix lp was on, doesn't seem to be mentioned on their myspace page?

Thanks for the clip...they sound great live.
I can see why Billy Childish toured with them and collaborated with them on music.
Are The Prisoners one of those bands that are better live then in studio?
RobP says
Prisoners were damn good in the studio and I never saw em live, but they were garage, so maybe they were better live. I dunno, it's not like they had this clean studio sound.
thanks for the info on monotonix, jeff. will check it further, hopefully find more music before they hit oaktown.

Hey that 30-second clip sounds pretty fun. (No way am I installing anything else from MOG on my computer, though.)
Didn't I just get an email about Monotonix from somebody...wouldn't be Thrill Jockey would it?
RobP says
Monotonix has an ep due out on Drag City in April, doesn't look like any label prior to that, definitely not on the TJ site or I woulda noticed.

huh... i must have used up my alloted previews in old mog style or somethin', cause i don't see the clip anywhere. bummer. glad to hear a new monotonix disc is comming out on drag city.
i can hear a prisoners clip of i'm coming home on their artists songs page though. sounds pretty cool. good live room sound there. i remember around this time frame being into a couple of mod revival bands the lambrettas, and the purple hearts. i don't know how that is related to your post rob, but i am retarded like that sometimes.
