The Greatness Of Johnny Cash Current mood: sympathetic
I usually don't post blog's but this has to be done. Because I am tired of hearing all these wanna be Rock a Billy fans all of a sudden embracing the greatness and God like presence of THE MAN IN BLACK Mr Johnny Cash. All of a sudden in the past few years everyone is embracing the coolness of Johnny Cash, from the shirts at Hot Topic (one of which I own) to people mentioning on there music interest on myspace saying oh Johnny Cash is one of my favorites. This is what I have to say FUCKING BUNCH OF POSERS 10 years ago when the man was still alive unless you were a fan of country music no one ever said oh Johnny Cash is one of my favorite artists, The man who was already a legend before MTV and all these wanna be punk bands started saying he was an influence to them the Man was and always be a legend right next to Elvis, and the Beatles. My father has been a fan of Johnny Cash since the 50's and that is how I learned about who Johnny Cash was not thru MTV or VH1 or fucking whatever retail store put him on a shirt. That is how I knew he was cool because he has been around forever and he will last forever because he was and will always be a legend. Listen and learn the man was around and started the standered of music and what its like to be cool ENOUGH SAID At Folsom Prison By Johnny Cash Release date: By 19 October, 1999

It really sucks when suddenly a long esteemed artist become the hot new hip name to drop. The bandwagon gets crowded with newbies who, generaly speaking, know nothing of the artist/band beyond what's right in front of them. The Man in Black is such a perfect example. His importance to county-folk music is seminal. He embodied the logical link between Woody Guthrie and the phenomonal Carter Family. the man left behind a body of work which stands as a guide through the Great American Songbook. His shadow colors the landscape of so much of today's best music. I laugh, i snort an' throw the finger at the modern-day "Country Stars" when they pay lip-service to a MAN they're not worthy to share a planet with.
Although some stray behind you on the path, there are others far ahead.
