My Morning Jacket at The Palladium Ballroom (Dallas, TX) - 08/23/08
almost 4 years ago

Wow. What a show...The sound could have been a wee bit better, but these guys give 110% every single night (as the 170+ live recordings at etree/archive.org will show). The show just chugged along with an intensity that grew and grew as the evening progressed. They have so many influences and touch on so many different genres in their music, and they do it brilliantly. The venue was packed, an

Tattoos (Off Topic)

I went to see my tattoo artist Wil the Tattoo Guy from Randy Adams Tattoo Studio for my second session of my 'Dia de los Muertos' sleeve this past Monday. I posted some pictures in a set on my Flickr page here for those that are curious or interested...Getting tattoos has put me in a metal(ish) mood, as all I have been listening to lately involves stuff like Baroness, High on Fire, Mastodon, Kyle

Band of Horses/Cass McCombs/Tyler Ramsey

We went to see Band of Horses this past weekend at The Palladium in Dallas. I don't feel like writing a lengthy review, but the show was great overall. It's a good thing we saw them when we did, because they have recently had to cancel a few dates (according to their MySpace page). We were upset that they didn't play 'I Go to the Barn...', but they played the snot out of 'The Great Salt Lake' a

Radiohead Tour Cities Announced (Hot Damn!)

Radiohead have not announced any dates for their upcoming U.S. tour, but they have provided a list of cities they will be visiting. Hot damn, Dallas made the cut (and this made my day)!I missed their opening set in support of R.E.M back when 'The Bends' came out due to bad traffic on the way to the show. I have always regretted missing it, and they are one of the few bands still touring that ar

Iron & Wine At The Palladium (Dallas)

The Iron & Wine show last night was nothing short of incredible. It was our first visit to The Palladium Ballroom in Dallas, and I really liked the venue. The space had good sound, friendly staff, multiple bars, a nice floor layout with plenty of room, and it was also easy to get to.Arthur and Yu opened, and they were a perfect compliment to Iron & Wine. I wish Sonya's vocals would have been mi

Bogdan Raczynski's Alive (and Alright)!

Wow...I was listening to 'Samuari Math Beats' the other day, and I wondered out loud, "Where in the world is Bogdan Raczynski?" I wore this CD out back in the day. It was a wonderful mess of an album from Rephlex that had a great sense of humor and a hard-to-put-your-finger-on unique quality. It still holds up as a great album, and it deftly blended styles to escape the dreaded IDM monoker for

Shameless Plug (For Muse Tickets)

We ended up with an extra pair of tickets to see Muse at the Nokia Theatre (in Grand Prairie, Texas on Sunday, September 16th), and we are trying to sell them through Ticketbastard's new TicketExchange program. Here's a link to the page where the tickets have been posted. The seats are in section 101, row R (seats 5-6). There is a premium on them, but we feel they are fairly priced based on th...

New iPods

Well, well...Old Stevie decided the whole iPod line needed a refresh for the upcoming holiday season. Engadget had pretty good coverage, including pics, here.I love the idea of the iPod Touch, but I just can't bring myself to part with $400 for 16Gb of storage. After announcing the price drop of the 8Gb iPhone, I would definitely rather have that. So I think Apple pulled a very smart bait and s
