Wow.  What a show...The sound could have been a wee bit better, but these guys give 110% every single night (as the 170+ live recordings at etree/archive.org will show).  The show just chugged along with an intensity that grew and grew as the evening progressed.  They have so many influences and touch on so many different genres in their music, and they do it brilliantly.  The venue was packed, and it was the best crowd I've been a part of in Dallas in a very long time.  Everyone was so into it, and it was a great thing to see and experience.

During the encore, the one and only Erykah Badu came out to join the band for their incredible cover of her song, 'Tyrone'.  Just superb.  Her soulful voice turned into an intense wail as the band furiously played her up.  I just hoped someone taped this show, because it was a spectacle.  If you have a chance to catch them on this tour, do not pass go.  Do not collect $200.  Go straight to the show with ticket in hand...

Update:

GvB has pics from the show, along with video and audio of the Badu cover...

I went to see my tattoo artist Wil the Tattoo Guy from Randy Adams Tattoo Studio for my second session of my 'Dia de los Muertos' sleeve this past Monday. I posted some pictures in a set on my Flickr page here for those that are curious or interested...
Getting tattoos has put me in a metal(ish) mood, as all I have been listening to lately involves stuff like Baroness, High on Fire, Mastodon, Kylesa, Disfear, Iron Maiden, etc.

We went to see Band of Horses this past weekend at The Palladium in Dallas. I don't feel like writing a lengthy review, but the show was great overall. It's a good thing we saw them when we did, because they have recently had to cancel a few dates (according to their MySpace page). We were upset that they didn't play 'I Go to the Barn...', but they played the snot out of 'The Great Salt Lake' among others.

I don't think Cass McCombs and his band was very good live, despite the fact that I have liked his studio work in the past.

Edmund Frost Booth does a better job of describing Tyler Ramsey in his post than I ever could, so I'll just leave it at that. He blew me away, though. We bought two of his CDs at the show, and 'Elizabeth Brown' struck me in particular. He definitely held his own (and then some) while playing with Band of Horses as well.
