let's keep it going with one a little shorter this time. this one's about The Field. say what you want about pitchfork, when they nail it so exactly right as they did in their review on this one, i have to fight to not steal what they wrote. so if you want an accurate review, look it up there. as for this it remains, again, entirely personal.
i loved this album in ways where i could write it in words and i was quite comfortable doing that. even in my limited descriptive ability, i could properly express how much i fell for it.last week it became completely impossible.because i'd listen to it before in small clusters of tracks, and would appreciate how it's relentless repetition gave way to enhancing a certain vision or sentiment instead of driving me crazy. i made boards of canada comparisons left and right about how this is the only other time this has actually worked.now i just dont know what to say except ramble about it here.this album has so much love into it but as for what it just leaves all the blanks for me to fill in. it's like the expression for everything i've ever felt intimate about or attatched to. the steady, barebones beat keeps its airy samples grounded but they push and explode again and again and AGAIN until the last minor shift brings a release with it, completes the picture, and drives whatever it is home.the same thing happened to pantha du prince's "this bliss" later but to a lesser extent. i appreciate the album much more to make it at least in my top ten this year
